Billy Joel Music to Benefit Randolph Area Food Shelf!

On Sunday, November 13, 2011 at 3 PM, central Vermont musician Christopher Smith will present a full program of the music of Billy Joel, on the main stage of Chandler Center for the Arts. Inviting collaboration between Green Mountain College choir alumni, Orange County, Vermont-based musicians, as well as talented individuals and groups from New England and the mid-Atlantic region, this show is a fundraiser for the Randolph Area Food Shelf,a local non-profit. Admission is free, and a free-will donation for the food shelf will be taken at the door and during a brief intermission. Variety across Billy Joel’s catalog, from tender ballads to straightforward and masterful pop, will appeal to all ages: from “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me” to “New York State of Mind,” most songs will feature a band that includes the Boston-based jazz-rock trio Riding Shotgun, as well as saxophonist David Hopkins and Brookfield pianist Craig Smith. The show will also feature an acapella choir performing arrangements of three of Joel’s works, under the direction of Mark Parsons, a renowned music educator and choral director. This event is made possible through the generous support from Bethany Church UCC of Randolph, Chandler Center for the Arts, the Three Bean Café of Randolph, and Little Gems Productions.
