Trigger Warnings: Challenging Talk Radio features Drs. Jon Ross and Chris Smith in conversation about politics, culture, celebrity, and much more. Jon and Chris met during the January 2011 residency at Union Institute and University's PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies program, and quickly struck up a friendship. Together, they have presented at academic and professional conferences, and collaborated on a number of papers and presentations.
In the months prior to the Presidential election of 2016, the pair began recording weekly podcasts, during which each would present one or two articles for the other to respond to. Initial programs were posted on SoundCloud; due to space limitations, it was decided weeks later to use YouTube as the sole means for distributing the rather lengthy recordings.
During the spring of 2017, Jon and Chris allowed the program to morph into a quiz show, in which both participants prepare ten multiple choice questions based on that week's news and events.
